On May 20, Matthias performed at the opening concert of the international Liederfest in Suzhou.

The Liederfest took place from May 20 to 28 at different locations around the city of Suzhou. Apart from the international artists and participants, the festival covered Italian, French, English, German, Russian, and Chinese art songs. At the event Song Without Words, Matthias performed Johann Kaspar Mertz's guitar transcription of Franz Schubert's art song Ständchen.
