On September 22, Matthias was a guest artist at the International Music Festival of Yangzhou.

As a special soloist, he performed pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Lauro alongside the other musicians, Chinese clarinetist Xiaoting Ma, Russian pianist Angela Cholakyan, and Jordanian cellist Khaled Bal'awi.
